Former Nigeria Captain Joins French Club Dijon FCO

French Division 1 Féminine side Dijon FCO have strengthened their ranks by signing former Nigeria captain Desire Oparanozie,  informs the official website . The Super Falcon is joining Dijon FCO as a free agent and has inked a two-year contract that will keep her at the club until the end of the 2021-2022 season. Oparanozie is well known in the French Division 1 Féminine, having worn the colours of of En Avant Guingamp, where she spent six years and scored 45 goals in 106 league matches. ANKARA   President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday launched a $2.6 billion gas pipeline project that will further enhance the country's energy security, local media reported. In a virtual meeting, Buhari said the project will provide gas and also facilitate the revival of moribund industries in the West African country. "Today marks an important chapter in the history of our great nation. It marks the day when our domestic natural gas pipeline networks from Obiafu in Rivers State, Escravos in Delta State and Lekki in Lagos State, are being connected through Kaduna to Kano states thereby further enhancing national energy security,” the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) quoted Buhari as saying. 11 escape as Nigerian govt rescues 39 citizens arrested in Ghana

The Nigerian government has facilitated the release of thirty-nine Nigerians detained for illegally entering Ghana. The Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, disclosed this on its official Twitter page. The Nigerian citizens were arrested at Aflao border as they attempted to enter the country illegally. The statement read in part: “The Nigerian consular team was dispatched by the High Commission to intervene immediately. “On getting there we met with about 30 more Nigerians who were arrested for also trying to enter Ghana through illegal routes due to the border closure.” The consular team, however, appealed to the immigration officials not to prosecute the culprits but allow the easy evacuation of stranded Nigerians.

Kano 2020 Budget: Ganduje to present reviewed appropriation bill of N138B to State Assembly

Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has disclosed that the 2020 budget of over N200 Billion would be reduced by 30 percent. The reviewed budget of N138,279,140,661k was presented to the state Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, by the Commissioner of Planning and Budget, Nura Muhammad Dankadai, for consideration and passing, before transmission to the State House of Assembly. The reviewed budget of over N138 Billion has N78.8b for recurrent expenditure, which represents 57 percent and N54.9b for capital expenditure, which represents 43 percent. Internally general revenue (IGR) stood at N46 billion naira in the original document, with N7.8 billion as actual collection from January to March.

Keyamo, senators exchange words over engagement of 774,000 social workers

It was another rowdy session yesterday at the National Assembly premises, as members engaged in a shouting match with the Minister of State, Labour and productivity, Festus Keyamo, over the ongoing recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians under the current administration’s Special Public Works Programme (SPWP) across the nation’s 774 council areas. The lawmakers threatened to suspend the exercise. The Joint Committee on Labour and Productivity had invited Keyamo to explain the modalities for the engagement. The atmosphere in the Room 231 venue of the committee meeting suddenly became charged over the mode the deliberation should take.
